Counting calories plays a major role in weight loss. It is important to be aware of your calorie intake when you are trying to lose weight. But, did you know that there are calorie myths that you should be aware of so that your weight loss journey will be effective.

Learn the basics of calories to make better choices when it comes to your health.

Here’s what you need to know!

#1. All Calories are Created Equal.

What people believe is that as long as they take a certain number of calories then it is already enough. This is a myth! There is a difference between a 100-calorie of salmon to a 100-calorie of chocolate. Salmon is a healthy choice, while chocolate is not a nutritious choice. Both have the same calories but it provides different healthy nutrition to your body.

#2. You should aim for 1,200 calories a day to lose weight.

1,200 calories a day is not healthy! As an adult, you require more than 1,200 calories a day to function properly. Although this may work as you are still starting your weight loss journey, but has been proven to be unsustainable long-term as it slows down your metabolism. This is difficult to maintain and this is how people end up with a yo-yo dieting rollercoaster.

#3. Celery has Negative Calories.

Celery has 9 calories per stalk and so this is why people eat celery to consume lower calories to lower or make their calorie intake negative. There is no such thing as this.

#4. Don’t Count Calories, Count Macros.

Counting calories is as much as important as counting macros. Counting macros is also important for overall health but you need to lessen your calorie intake to achieve weight loss.
