#1. Cucumber

Cucumber contains vitamins and certain bioactive compounds that can prohibit tyrosinase activity. This could help reduce the pigmentations around your eyes.

Tip: Take a cucumber and a teaspoon of aloe vera gel. Blend them to make a thick paste ad apply it to the pigmented areas. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off with plain water. You can apply this paste once every day.

#2. Tomato

Tomatoes are rich in beta-carotene and lycopene (phytochemicals) that reduce oxidative damage to skin tissues and lessen the redness of the skin. This could also help get rid of dark circles under the eyes.

Tip: Blend a tomato and lemon juice to make a paste. Apply it around your eyes and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it off thoroughly. You can do this once or twice a week.

#3. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera contains aloesin, a compound that inhibits tyrosinase activity. It can also hydrate the skin and help in preventing excessive pigmentation on your skin or under your eyes.

Tip: Take a tablespoon of aloe vera, and massage it on the pigmented area. Leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. Follow this every night until your under-eye pigmentation fades.

#4. Yogurt

Yogurt has L-cysteine, an amino acid that inhibits tyrosinase activity and prevents pigmentation.

Tip: Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to two teaspoons of yogurt. Mix well to make a paste, and apply it to the pigmented area of your eyes. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off. Do this at least twice a week to get a good result.

#5. Green Tea Bags

Green tea contains phenolic compounds that inhibit the production of melanin pigment. This may help prevent pigmentation and fades dark circles.

Tip: Soak two green tea bags in water and refrigerate for a short while. Place them on your eyes and wash the spot after 10-15 minutes. Repeat this process until your dark circles fade away.

#6. Honey

Honey contains polyphenols that inhibit tyrosinase activity and this help reduces excessive pigmentation.

Tip: Mix a tablespoon of honey with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply this mixture under your eyes and leave for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water. Repeat this once a day until the dark circle fades.

#7. Potato

Potato juice has Azelaic acid that inhibits tyrosinase activity which can reduce pigmentation.

Tip: Extract about 1-2 tablespoons of potato juice and apply it to the dark circles. Leave it on until it dries and rinses off with water. Do this at least twice a week.

Note: Ensure that you carry out a patch test before trying out any of the above-mentioned remedies as some ingredients or compounds may irritate some skin types.
