It only takes one bad habit to ruin your health! Sometimes you don’t recognize it because it is already in your daily routine. It’s important to identify your bad habit in order for you to address it and stop doing it.

It’s hard to stop doing your usual habit when it is already hardwired in your brain, but nothing is impossible as long as you are determined to stop doing it. To be successful in changing your bad habit, you should set a goal and do it step-by-step, and later on, you will see progress.

Here are five common bad habits that you need to stop doing!

#1. Sitting too much

Most of our days are spent sitting. Sometimes you don’t recognize this as a bad habit because it is already part of your day-to-day routine. You sit at home to watch tv, you sit at work, and you even sit when you chit chat with friends.

Sitting too much poses a lot of health concerns such as increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease, increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat, obesity, and abnormal cholesterol levels.

So, be mindful of your sitting time. Set a timer to be able to monitor your sitting time and you can just stand up and walk a bit or do a stretcher from time to time.

#2. Snacking non-stop

Eating snacks is not bad for your health but eating snacks too often is a serious concern especially if you eat junk foods or any unhealthy foods that are bad for your health. Too much eating will make you gain calories and this may be the cause that you will gain weight.

If you can’t avoid eating snacks, you can do portioning and only eat healthy snacks such as peanuts, yogurts, veggies, and fruits. You can also drink lots of water because sometimes you may be only confusing thirst with hunger.

#3. Eating too much sugar

Sugar is the number 1 killer. It can cause chronic diseases such as heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Sometimes you won’t be able to notice your sugar intake because you just tend to eat anything without looking at the label. So, make sure to check the label the next time you eat something. You can also opt to use stevia instead of sugar.

#4. Drinking too much

It’s okay to enjoy a glass of beer or wine but excessive drinking is bad for your health. Too much alcohol consumption can pose health conditions including high blood pressure, heart and liver disease, stroke, and cancer.

It’s okay to drink occasionally but make sure to don’t do it often and excessively. Try to limit your alcohol consumption and try to opt for healthier drinks when it’s just a regular day.

#5. Not getting enough sleep

This is the most common habit that we all have. We don’t pay attention to our sleeping hours and this is very dangerous to our health. This can cause many health problems such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, poor mental health, and early death.

The normal sleeping hours are 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Make sure to discipline yourself and make a routine that will make you sleep. Avoid using cell phones because it will divert your attention and it will make it difficult to sleep.
